Betty Horton Obituary

Betty Jean (Redding) Horton was born on September 20, 1942, to the late Gus and Ruby (Redding) Early in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her education at Carver High School and went on to study nursing at Carver Vocational School in Atlanta. From a young age, Betty embraced her faith, accepting Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She was baptized and became a devoted member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church for many years, under the guidance of the late Pastor Rev. E. D. Jackson.

Betty's first marriage blessed her with four daughters. Later in life, she married Charlie Horton, whom she lovingly referred to as the love of her life. They moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to be closer to her youngest three grandchildren as they entered adulthood. Known as Grandma and Papa to their grandchildren, Betty and Charlie cherished their time together, enjoying dining out, hosting barbecues, and attending various recitals, educational events, and sports activities. They took immense joy in nurturing and spoiling their grandchildren. In her professional life, Betty had diverse experiences, including bartending, social work, optical lens manufacturing, management in the auto parts industry, and retail management.
