We are deeply saddened at the unexpected passing of Dennis Anthony Swasey, on August 25, 2024, at the age of 56, as the result of a motorcycle accident. Dennis was born on September 8, 1967, in Jamaica, West Indies. As a baby he moved with his parents and siblings to Nassau, Bahamas. The family later returned to Jamaica to begin the process of moving to the United States. Dennis was a citizen of the United States, his adopted country, for over 40 years. Dennis graduated from John F. Kennedy High School, Paterson, New Jersey in1985 and later attended Rhode Island School of Design (for Photography).
A highly respected and beloved entrepreneur in the Atlanta, Georgia area for 25 years, Dennis was the owner of Hi-Def Landscape, Inc., beautifying the landscapes of many homes and businesses. From his youth, Dennis dutifully and happily assisted his mother in the garden. Therefore, it came as no surprise that years later, he would dedicate himself to a career in landscaping. Since his parents moved to Georgia in 2006, Dennis had taken care of landscaping at their home.
Dennis enjoyed spending time with his children, talking and joking with family and friends, eating delicious food prepared by his mother, spending time with his dogs, and riding his motorcycle. He championed health and fitness, often reminding others to be mindful of good health habits.
His family, friends and all who encountered him will remember him for his trust in God, tenacity, professionalism, kindness, compassion, humor, and zest for life.
Dennis had two children, Marc and Lauren, with his former wife (divorced), Thaisa Kindell. Dennis is mourned by his son, Marc Swasey; his parents, Monica Swasey and Patrick Swasey; his brothers, Terry Patmore, Devon Swasey (Nikole), Trevor Swasey (Tisha), Dwayne Swasey (Lilian), and Phillip Swasey; his sisters Patricia Swasey Washington and Melony Swasey Freeman (Fenton); numerous relatives (nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles); fiancée, Antionette McMillan; and friends, customers, and employees. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lauren Swasey, who passed away six months ago.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on September 20th, 2024, at Raleigh Rucker Funeral Home, 2199 Candler Rd., Decatur, GA and his memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on September 21st, 2024, at Wesley Chapel Church, 2828 Wesley Chapel Rd., Decatur, GA.
