Emily B. Smith was born on September 18, 1925 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Theodore and Emily Allen. She was fondly known by all as “Dollbaby”. A name coined by her father at an early age. She met her husband Hurell Smith before he left to serve in World War II. Upon his return they married December 29, 1945.
They immediately moved to Cleveland Ohio. While living in Cleveland they were blessed to have four children, Hurell Jr., Orence, Nicholas and Emily Bonnie. While in Cleveland they attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. Emily served as a Deaconess and on the flower committee. They returned to Atlanta in 1982 to help take care of her elderly parents.
Dollbaby enjoyed life. She loved to sew, cook, spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was a creative who enjoyed seeing and creating beautiful items and images.
Dollbaby went home to our Heavenly Father on the morning of January 11, 2022 at the age of 96.
She is survived by her children, Hurell Smith, Jr. (Marlene) of Cleveland, Ohio, Orence Allen Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, Nicholas Calvert ((Ruby), Emily Bonnie Archie (Melvin) of Altamonte Springs, Florida. She leaves behind three nieces and two nephews, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren along with a host of relatives and friends.
