Monica Nwogu

Mrs. Monica Ifeyinwa Nwogu (née Onyemenam) was born in Asaba in Delta State of Nigeria, on October 10, 1964, to the late Mr. John and Mrs. Lucy Onyemenam. The second youngest of seven siblings, Monica was raised in a vibrant and Christian household that shaped her kind and resilient spirit.

She pursued her passion for caregiving by attending University College Hospital in Ibadan, eventually beginning her distinguished nursing career at the same hospital. It was during this time that she met her soon-to-be husband, Mr. Anthony Nwogu in 1995. The two were wed the same year, embarking on a beautiful 30-year journey of marriage built on faith and devotion.

In 1996, Monica relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States to join her husband. It was there she became a mother, welcoming her daughter, Laura Nwogu, in 1998, followed by her son, Kevin Nwogu, in 2000. The family moved to Georgia in 2002. Monica dedicated over two decades of service to the healthcare community at what is now Emory Decatur Hospital, where she was known for her leadership, empathy, and mentorship. She was recognized by her peers through multiple awards and accolades. 

Beyond her professional achievements, Monica was a devout Christian, an ever-present, compassionate and one-of-a-kind mother, a devoted wife, and a loving sister and friend to many.

She will be forever missed and forever loved.
